Culture

We’re proud that we’ve created a culture of openness, collaboration, transparency and fun. A “different kind of corporate” is the way we describe it. Our unique culture ensures our customers and our people are at the forefront of everything we do. We’ve created a happy, productive environment. We embrace change; we’re not afraid to try out and learn from new and innovative approaches to our work.

It all begins with employing people who fit our culture and reflect our values. In our monthly business update meetings our Directors talk to everyone in the business, sharing our strategy and priorities. Staff Working Groups get together to discuss our strategy and priorities, giving us valuable feedback that helps shape our decisions and direction.

Talent Management & Development is an essential part of our culture. Our “People” department actively develop forward-thinking programs including, “Future Leaders” at both foundation and advanced levels.

We’re proud to be “Investors in People” accredited.

At any given moment, a minimum of 90% of our team will have taken and passed the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM) WasteSmart program. Our aim is for all staff to be certified within their first year of joining the team.

Taking responsibility as a corporate citizen is very serious to us. We consider carefully the consequences our actions have and the social value that we can create. It’s not just about bins and collections; we’re here to develop solutions that create value for society.

Clear and open dialogue with customers and service partners alike is a priority for us. The introduction of our insights program allows interaction through surveys, face to face meetings and telephone conversations, so that we can gather factual information in relation to our performance and innovation and then act upon the feedback we’ve been given.

Celebrating and sharing successes and staff achievements is the norm for us. We recognise success through our Champions scheme, Big Ideas and via our newsletter.
