Our team have been like a cat on a hot tin roof for several months since submitting applications on behalf of our customers for the Awards For Excellence In Recycling & Waste Management. The waiting is over and the shortlist has been announced.
These awards are a unique opportunity to gain industry recognition for our achievements, highlighting customer successes in relation to Recycling, Reuse and Waste Reduction.
We were shortlisted for our work in partnership with Marston’s PLC back in 2017. This year we’re hoping to go one step further and secure the much-coveted winner’s trophy.
Our application was judged by senior figures from LARAC, The Wood Recyclers Association and ESA among others. We’ve been shortlisted in the “Waste Management Initiative in the retail, commercial & public sector” category for our work with Azzurri Group. Some of the highlights of the application showing how the waste hierarchy can be inverted included:
Together, we’ve pioneered the reduction of waste and our project results demonstrate sector leading environmental credentials.
Katie Lawson, Senior Account Manager said “We’re so happy to see that Azzurri have made the shortlist at this prestigious awards ceremony. It’s great to see a leading brand like Azzurri being recognised for all their hard work. The restaurants, thousands of staff and the 64 service partners who recycle & recover waste materials from across the estate have all played a key role in creating and delivering Azzurri’s sector leading environmental credentials.”
Traditionally, this event is held in May each year at the Landmark Hotel in Marylebone, London. Like so many events in 2020, the coronavirus pandemic has meant change was needed. The winners will now be announced via a virtual ceremony on 6th November. Whilst we may not be sitting down for a five course meal and a glass or three of wine, our spirits certainly won’t be dampened. We will be attending the virtual event that recognises the hard work and commitment Azzurri Group have shown and we will celebrate success in our own unique way.
